ALBUM REVIEW: Caro Emerald “Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor”

Label: Dramatico Records
Release Date: 18th October 2010

“Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor” is the debut album from Caro Emerald, a Dutch word of mouth sensation, who has already spent a record-breaking 27 weeks at number 1 in the Dutch album chart.

An impromptu performance of the track “Back It Up” on a local TV show, was all it took to set Caro on that rollercoaster from relative unknown to Dutch superstar. Now Caro brings her hugely successful album to the UK and it’s certainly not one to be missed.

Described as a “neo-swing pop” album, Caro’s smouldering voice lends itself to the collection of 1940/50’s swing and jazz influenced tracks. This lady is cooler than cool, and is sure to fit in very nicely among our home-grown talents.

Jazz, hip-hop, break beats, swing, mambo and tangos, this collection of  songs has it all, from the opening toe tapping track “That Man”, to the xylophone-infused “The Other Women”, which brings forth visions of the sexy and sultry argentine tango dance. “Dr.Wanna Do” brings a fun and flirty story telling element to the album as Caro tells us “My eyes went ooh, my voice just coo’ed, my mind let loose….”

With her debut single “Back It Up” out on 4th October, and “Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor” following on 18th October, it definitely worth checking this talented lady out.

Caro will be supporting Katie Melua on the UK leg of her European tour in December, so if you like what you hear don’t miss the chance to see her perform! If the album is anything to go by, you won’t be disappointed!

Rating 5/5

**Editor’s Amends: – Since the review was written we understand that Katie Melua is now suffering from exhaustion and the tour is postponed for now unfortunately.**
