NEWS: Lawson Announce Hometown Tour

Lawson have today announced The Hometown Tour which will give Andy, Adam, Ryan and Joel the opportunity to play an intimate gig in the individual cities they grew up in. Lawson will be traveling the country this October and November through Liverpool, Sheffield, Brighton, Nottingham and then finish off by playing their biggest ever headline show to date at London’s KOKO. Lawson tickets go on-sale on Friday 17th August and are available from www.livenation.co.uk or www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
Lawson have had a very busy summer with T4 On The Beach, Hard Rock Calling, BT London Live, they rocked the games at the Olympic Volleyball, T In The Park, V Festival and the release of their incredible top three smash, ‘Taking Over Me’. Now it’s time for them to make a few trips home, but the guys are by no means slowing down!
Guitarist Joel Peat said:

“We’re all so excited to release our debut album, we’ve been building up to it for the past 4 years so doing shows in our Home Towns feels like the perfect way to celebrate. Performing live is what we love the most so to be able to play our biggest venues to date in the Cities where we grew up is very special.”

Single of the Week: Lovepark “How Do I See?/Shudder”

Releading a double A-Side single is wise move for a new band-particularly when they show two differing sides to the launching act. “How Do I See?” is melancholic beauty, while “Shudder” picks up the tempo yet loses none of the group’s signature spike and attitude. With so much potential demonstrated within just one single release, there is little doubt that this Brighton troupe are headed for the big time, so we suggest jump on the band wagon sooner rather than later…

The Kaje Sessions: Stuart Newman

The Kaje Sessions presents Stuart Newman. The home appears to be a favourite location for an artist when recording their session, but Brighton based Stuart Newman has taken us somewhere no-one else has – his bathroom!  You can easily “Feel The Temperature Rising” as Stuart subtle delivery sends shivers down your spine.

Where did you record The Kaje Session?

In my bathroom at my home.

What made you choose to use this location?

First of all, why not!? Second of all, it’s kinda quirky. Bit like me. Thirdly off all, I think it’s a little different. If in doubt, I say, change a variable. See what happens. Plus, bathrooms make a nice reverb sound sometimes. I’ve used bathroom sounds before too, in recordings. I used a shower noise in my song ‘A-Negative’.

What is the most unusual live date you have ever played?

I’m a recording artist only, so far. It’s all about the studio and recording for me.

What made you choose “Feel The Temperature Rising” for the session?

Well, it’s my new single. There’s that thinking of, “you’re only as good as your last song”. I’m not sure I agree with that idea, but it seemed a good choice anyway. It’s a song with both slow plucking and faster strumming, so the thinking was that that might provide a nice contrast, with the echoes in the bathroom!

VIDEO: Blood Red Shoes “Light It Up”

Brighton duo Blood Red Shoes remain one of The Kaje‘s favourites and latest seingle “Light It Up” only serves to make us bigger fans. Double with a cinematic sensation of a video directed by Warp Films’ James Lees. The track  does all the talking, so on this occasion we will let it do the work..

VIDEO: Stuart Newman “Head Hurts”

Some may say that on a bright summer’s day like the one we just had, that the last thing anyone would ever would want to listen to is a lament. However, there is something about the DIY outpouring of “Head Hurts” currently unsigned singer/songwriter Stuart Newman. Despite his protestation that he isn’t “a lighten up kinda guy” and proclamation that “we’re all gonna die”, the whine of “Head Hurts” is delicately uplifting.
