Single of the Week: Marika Hackman “You Come Down”/”Mountain Spines”

Marika Hackman is so much more than Burberry’s latest eyewear model. The 20 year old Brighton native, who you can catch supporting Benjamin Francis Leftwich on his upcoming UK Tour, is a striking songstress whose latest double A-side ‘You Come Down’/’Mountain Spines’ veers on the haunting. Devastatingly delicious, ‘You Come Down’ strikes for your core, ‘Mountain Spines’ relents and refreshes. Dauntingly, dangerously delightful.

Single of the Week: Cornelia “Stormy Weather”

Scandinavia excels at the independent, and songstress Robyn epitomises everything that is right about going it alone. Having suffered many a setback as she was initially launched as a teenie popstrel by a major label, she has succesfully reinvented herself as an indie electro icon. So, to receive praise, acclaim and advice directly from such a respected figure is no small feat for an upcoming starlet. Swedish electro pop songstress, Cornelia, who oozes Robyn’s influence yet still sounds fully fledged and cutting edge, is without any doubt a superstar in the making. “Stormy Weather” is an epic anthem that will have you hooked for all the rights reasons-the smoky vocal, the twisting beat and haunting tempo.

Single of the Week: [STRANGERS] “Safe/Pain”

[STRANGERS] continue to impress. Having blown The Kaje  away at the turn of the year, they near-enough topped our tips for top 2012 list, and with their musical output continuing to wow, it is only a matter of time before the Northampton/London based trio hit the top spot in the charts. Their latest release “Safe/Pain” is a beyond epic synth journey that induces an immediate euphoric effect. Blinding/brilliant/bold.

Single of the Week: Paloma Faith “30 Minute Love Affair”

Paloma Faith is firm favourite of The Kaje and we will not deny loving the fact that album number 2, “Fall To Grace”, has once again wowed the British public. With Grace’s profile rapidly on the rise, we thought we would once again celebrate our lovely Londoner by awarding our second Single of the Week of 2012 to her lush single “30 Minute Love Affair”.

Single of the Week: Civil Twilight ‘Fire Escape’

South African rock troupe Civil Twilight are about to redefine the term stadium rock on their own terms. While there is undoubtedly something a little U2 meets Red Hot Chilli Peppers about their sonic definition, the group’s brewing presence on latest single “Fire Escape” is sure to get your ear’s attention.

Single of the Week: Joel Sarakula “I Will Deliver”

London based Sydney singer/songwriter has long since been a The Kaje favourite. However, we have to admit that we are rather fond of his recent progression from innocence to adulthood-and we are speaking purely sonically  as opposed to any personality reflection. “I Will Deliver” takes “Bohemian” to the next level, with its drive and sexy stance. This is an anthem and we demand you let it dominate this summer.

Single of the Week: Kimbra “Two Way Street/Warrior”

Melbourne based Kiwi Kimbra got her first glimpse of international adoration as she duetted with Gotye on his supermassive hit “Somebody That I Used To Know”, and now just a few months later she is all set to steal the spotlight for herself with this sensational soulful single lifted from her debut album “Vows”. Having already won over a legion of fans on her home turf and in the States, we have a feeling that Kimbra is set to dominate here in the UK too.
