VIDEO: Seye “Mexicana Bounce”

In music it can be hard to establish yourself if you already have a succesful sibling against whom you can be compared. Seye, younger brother of Metronomy’s Gbenga, is going to suffer no such misplace prejudice. While his brother is undoubtedly a leading light in the British music scene, Seye brings a completely different dynamic to the fore. Calling on his personal journey, one that started in Nigeria and has arrived at Bromley, Kent via Ecuador and Holland, Seye’s sound is one of cultural diversity and pure party fun. This is a post-summer record if ever you heard one!

NEWS: Stone Sour Add Second Date To Their UK Tour

Due to phenomenal demand, Grammy nominated Iowa rock giants, STONE SOUR, have added a second Brixton show to their previously announced UK tour, their first in two years. Both London shows will feature very special guests Papa Roach.
The tour will be their first since the hugely successful ‘Audio Secrecy’ album cycle, which saw the band rack up gold album sales in the UK, headline the mammoth Download Festival’s Stage 2, and sell-out a UK tour, including two nights at Hammersmith Apollo.
These dates come hot on the heels of the release of the first part of their ambitious and expansive new album project, ‘House of Gold & Bones’.  The album concept is a two-disc beast with the initial CD – and first half of the ‘story’ – hitting stores on 22nd October and the concluding disc materialising next Spring.  Further details are available at, where you can also hear the album’s lead tracks, ‘Gone Sovereign’ and ‘Absolute Zero’.
Frontman and lyricist Corey Taylor, himself a Sunday Times best-selling novelist with last year’s ‘Seven Deadly Sins’, wrote the lyrics for the 24 tracks that make up the ‘House of Gold & Bones’ as a linear storyline, that tells the tale of a character at a crossroads in his life.  The release of ‘Gone Sovereign’ and ‘Absolute Zero’ is the initial part of an unveiling, which continues as the album cycles unfold.  Music is just one medium that Stone Sour are using to tell the story that pins both albums together.  Further elements will act as a companion to the music, for fans looking to fully immerse themselves in the ‘House of Gold & Bones’ experience.
Taylor is suitably excited to be returning across the pond with Stone Sour, stating; “It’s gonna be awesome to bring the House of Gold and Bones to fans live.  We’ve given people a taste of Part One, and now we’re gonna bring them the best Stone Sour show they’ve ever seen!  It begins soon.  Get ready!”
Special guests at both the London shows are the multi-platinum PAPA ROACH, who release their new album, ‘The Connection’ on 1st October.

NEWS: The Twang Announce New Tour And Album

October 29th 2012 sees the release of the Twang’s third studio album, entitled 10:20.  To mark the release the band are making lead track ‘Mainline’ available to stream from midday today (Monday 20th August). A departure for the band, Mainline features dark and twisted verses with a carnival like chorus.

10:20 follows the success of their first two records (their debut clocking in excess of 200,000 sales bearing hits Either Way and Wide Awake, and second album delivering massive fan favourite Barney Rubble), which firmly cemented the band’s place in UK indie history. Lambasted by the press from day one The Twang haven’t had it easy – but the sheer love for what they do has kept them going, and with this album it really is time to let the music do the talking.

The band spent most of the last year holed up in their own studio facility in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter writing and recording the songs that were to become 10:20 (titled after a note that an irate studio neighbour left cellotaped to their studio door). At this time the band discovered that original drummer and life long friend Matty Clinton had stolen over £10,000 worth of equipment from their studio. They were obviously devastated – but the decision was made to sack Matty. His replacement is Ash “grandmaster ash” Sheehan, a well known percussionist on the underground house scene, known for his legendary percussion sets all over the world from the midlands to Ibiza, playing along side the likes of Annie Mac, Swedish House Maffia, P Diddy,, and Busta Rhymes. A friend of the band, Ash originally played all the trumpets on Mainline, but when he sat behind the drum kit he blew the band away – he was in.

Singer Phil says, “We recorded the album in our own studio in Birmingham with our good friend Jon Simcox. As we built the studio ourselves, and were funding the record ourselves, we weren’t under any pressure to meet anyone else’s deadlines and had the freedom to work whenever and however we wanted without any record company hassle. We decided early on that we wanted the record to be more organic than our previous two albums so we’ve tried to be disciplined and strip away the layers and leave something natural and beautiful”.

Lyrically 10:20 is reflective and often introspective, dealing with the problems that life throws at two people trying to live together. The album features the two earlier singles Paradise and Guapa (the story of a rebel soldier falling madly in love with a girl days before he is likely to meet his death in battle) and ‘We’re A Crowd’, a call to arms addressing what people can achieve when they join together in a positive way, and written at the height of the UK’s 2011 summer riots. The record also features a cover of the Durutti Column’s lost classic, Tomorrow  – a nod to Factory Records back catalogue from fans discovering the beauty and desperation of that song for the first time.

To celebrate the album release the Twang head out on tour again in October, finishing with a headline show at London’s Scala on the 15th November. Tickets available to buy Weds 22nd August at 9am from
