ALBUM REVIEW: Tom Findlay “Late Night Tales Presents: Music For Pleasure”

I am sure The Kaje are far from alone in their frustration at the perpetually interchanging weather that the UK is currently a victim of. Each morning we wake up unsure of what clothing best suits the day ahead, and we have all been caught out supping Pimm’s on the grass only to find the sun suddenly disappearing behind a sheet of gruesome grey. However, for the more optimistic of us, Tom Findlay, one half of the ever so awesome Groove Armada, has compiled, remixed and even recreated a collection of 80s hits, resulting in the perfect summer soundtrack.

Blissfully chilled out, the rather long-titled “Late Night Tales Presents: Music For Pleasure”is flawless from open to close. Prepare yourself for a musical transportation to the golden sun of the picture perfect Californian coast. Just close your eyes and you will find yourself surrounded by the perfectly formed pretties in their slinky swimwear supping whatever cocktail takes your fancy.

Having found time to sublimely rework Ace’s “How Long” with Sugardaddy cohort Tim Hutton, Findlay has not missed a trick. With everyone from Robert Palmer (“Every Kind Of People”) to ELO (“Showdown”) featured, Findlay has managed to tick every box possible, yet the record sounds flawlessly effortless from open to close.

“Late Night Tales Presents: Music For Pleasure” provides the perfect excuse to sip supping whatever summery tipple takes your fancy, regardless of whether outside the skies are grey and miserable.
