NEWS: Jonquil Reveal May Tour Dates

Jonquil, recently returned from their US tour with Keep Shelley In Athens, have lined up a run of UK dates in support of their critically acclaimed album ‘Point Of Go’.

The Oxford quartet led by Hugo Manuel released ‘Point To Go’ earlier this year, declaring it their most accessible record to date – an exercise in classic pop sensibilities held up by a modern backbone.

With influences from Fleetwood Mac to The Smiths, Chic and Earth, Wind and Fire to Arthur Russell, it’s an album thNEWat fully embraces what the 70s and 80s understood creating something that’s fundamentally clever in its very simplicity.

‘Point Of Go’ was released on Oxford’s Blessing Force label – newly set up by and for a burgeoning community of musicians & artists from the area and one which also involves the Jonquil boys’ other projects (Chad Valley, Solid Gold Dragons and Pocket House).

Meanwhile, Grecian blog darlings Keep Shelly In Athens bring sepia-soaked synths and angelic atmosphere into their remix of Jonquil’s Run, deconstructing the original track and reshaping it into something distant and ethereal. The original version of ‘Run’ will be released in May – details to be announced.

Having sold out the Hoxton Bar And Grill in February, Jonquil have lined up Cargo for the May tour which is book ended by appearances at The Great Escape and Manchester’s Kraak Gallery. Tickets on are on sale now.
