NEWS: Kym Marsh Announced For Corrie Musical ‘Street Of Dreams’

Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has been cast to play the vivacious ‘tart with a heart’ Elsie Tanner in Street of Dreams – the Coronation Street live musical event which is to premiere at the Manchester Arena on Wednesday 9 & Thursday 10 May. Tickets, priced from £25.00 – £60.00, are on sale now.

In addition to her Corrie role, Marsh will be swapping Michelle’s killer heels for Elsie’s sexy stilettos to portray the curvaceous, stubborn scarlet woman from the 1960’s era.Through an ensemble of song and dance Kym will perform a selection of classic Elsie moments just for the stage. Known already for an amazing vocal ability, Kym will belt out a spine-tingling rendition of I Know How It Feels from the critically acclaimed 2010 album Coronation Street The Album – Rogues, Angels, Heroes & Fools.

Street of Dreams is a live musical tribute to Britain’s best-loved soap and will be staged with a spectacular recreation of the iconic TV set with outstanding visual effects. It will feature a 25-piece orchestra playing music by award-winning musical writer, composer and lyricist Trisha Ward and is directed by Academy Award winning film and stage director John Stephenson (5 Children & IT and Animal Farm). A dazzling West End cast will be choreographed by Olivier award winners Stephen Mear and Karen Bruce.

West End superstar Jodie Prenger will also be taking to the stage alongside Kym as the 1980’s tempestuous Tanner for the world premiere in Manchester.

Kym and Jodie are the latest announcements to be joining other Corrie greats confirmed to star in the show including Julie Goodyear (Bet Lynch), Kevin Kennedy (Curly Watts), Brian Capron (Richard Hillman), Bill Roache (Ken Barlow) and Katy Cavanagh (Julie Carp).
