Single Of The Week: Jess Hall Band “Play Shy”

The past few years has seen folk music rise from the ashes and reach the top of the charts. It’s insane popularity means that Joe Bloggs and his best friend are attempting the new pop format – which should make it increasingly difficult to decipher the wheat from the chaff. However, as with most things in life, true talent shines through and makes you find it without even looking. This is how I would describe my own discovery of alternative–folksters Jess Hall Band. Breezing optimism, “Play Shy” is what many would describe as a song suitable for summer, but on a cold blustery autumn day, “Play Shy” is just the type of upbeat I need to help me survive.
