VIDEO: Sydney Dance Company 2011

If dance is the source of power then Shared Frequencies, the first program of 2011 for Sydney Dance Company, will electrify audiences.

Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela presents two world premiere commissions:
LANDforms, a new work conceived by Bonachela and his frequent collaborator, Italian composer Ezio Bosso; and a newly commissioned work from the sought-after Italian choreographer Jacopo Godani whose reputation places him at the forefront of contemporary dance in Europe and North America.

LANDforms’ score, that takes its inspiration from the landscape and the climatic elements, will be performed live throughout the season by violin and cello and with Bosso on piano.

Jacopo Godani, working for the first time ever in Australia, will create a new commission for Sydney Dance Company. The work will be set to a commissioned score by 48nord – a German duo specialising in electro acoustic music.

Rafael Bonachela says, “Our 2011 season will challenge and delight. It is a ‘real coup’ to have a choreographer such as Jacopo Godani create a work for the company to start our year”.

“The combination of new works and new music played live and the virtuosity of the dancers – will all make for an electrifying experience for audiences”.
