THEATRE REVIEW: Tell Me on a Sunday, 16.11.2010, Alexandra Theatre (Birmingham)

“Tell Me on a Sunday” is a musical with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Don Black. A one-act song cycle, it tells the story of an ordinary English girl from Muswell Hill, who journeys to the United States in search of love. Her romantic misadventures begin in New York City, lead her to Hollywood, and eventually take her back to Manhattan.

Starring Claire Sweeney one of the UK’s best-loved personalities with a string of credits to her name on stage and screen, in a career which takes her from Prime Time Saturday Night Television to star roles in London’s West End Theatre.

Claire Sweeney gave an incredible performance in the one woman show.

Sweeney’s singing was excellent giving an all round beautiful performance, from her voice to her figure. Sweeney commanded the entire audience having the crowds full attention througout.

At times was a little hard to watch due to the lack of movement around the stage and no other characters but is well worth a ticket!

Rating: 4/5
